Booking Guidelines & Rules

Read all 15 points carefully before proceeding with your shifting. Each one exists because someone learned the hard way.

1

Tax Compliance GST Details

  • GST Rate: Combined packers & movers services attract 18% GST. Pure goods transport may attract 5% as per regulations. Always request a GST tax invoice from the vendor.
  • GSTIN Verification: Confirm the vendor has a valid GSTIN so you receive a proper tax invoice.
  • Input Tax Credit: Without a bill, you cannot claim tax benefits and legal protection is weaker.
2

Damage Protection Transit Insurance

  • Coverage: Transit insurance protects your goods against damage, accident, fire or theft during transit. Never skip this.
  • Cost: Typically around 1% to 3% of the total declared value of goods.
  • Accurate Declaration: Declare the correct value of your goods upfront so there are no disputes during claims.
3

Hidden Costs Extra Charges to Confirm Upfront

  • Floor / Stair Charges: If there is no lift, additional labour charges apply. Fix this rate before booking.
  • Long Carry Charges: If the truck cannot reach your door, long-carry fees may apply. Ask in advance.
  • Toll & State Tax: For long-distance moves, clarify who pays tolls and state permits.
  • Unpacking & Assembly: Confirm whether unpacking and furniture reassembly are included in the base price.
4

Full Documentation Complete Inventory List

  • Itemized List: Prepare a written list of all boxes and large items before shifting.
  • Fragile Items: Mark glass and electronics separately and request special bubble packing.
  • Condition Check: Note existing scratches or damage during loading.
  • Personal Valuables: Never pack cash, gold or important documents in transport boxes — carry them personally.
5

Secure Transaction Payment & Vendor Verification

  • Current Account Payment: Always pay to the company's registered current account or official QR code. Never send advance to personal UPI or wallets.
  • Written Agreement: Get the booking amount and delivery date in writing with a receipt or invoice.
6

Legal Restriction Hazardous & Prohibited Items

Gas cylinders, flammable chemicals, paint, acid, firecrackers or any explosive materials cannot legally be transported in moving trucks. Carry such items yourself, safely.

7

Special Handling Pet & Plant Relocation

Due to lack of ventilation in closed trucks, most packers and movers do not accept responsibility for pets or live plants. Transport them in your own vehicle.

8

Building Approvals Society Gate Pass & Lift Permission

If you live in an apartment or gated society, obtain a gate pass and lift booking permission from the society office at least a day before shifting, so labour and trucks can enter smoothly.

9

Payment Terms Never Pay 100% Advance

Standard practice: pay only 10% to 20% as booking token, about half at loading time, and the remaining balance only after safe delivery of all goods.

10

City Regulations Heavy Vehicle Entry Timings

Many cities restrict entry of large commercial trucks during day hours. Coordinate with your vendor in advance so delivery is on time and no traffic fines occur.

11

Temporary Holding Storage & Warehousing

If your new home is not ready and you need to store goods for a few days, ask the vendor in advance whether they offer safe warehousing and what the daily rate would be.

12

Verification Driver vs Agency Owner

Do not rely solely on the truck driver. Always have the owner's contact number, office address and visiting card of the main agency or transport company so you have direct escalation.

13

Pricing Clarity Weight vs Volume Calculation

Clarify with the vendor whether the fare is calculated on total weight or on cubic feet. This prevents sudden budget increases at the last minute.

14

Final Check Post-Delivery Inspection

Before signing the final delivery slip as "All OK", open and check all boxes and electronic items. Note any damage or missing items immediately on the slip.

15

Escalation Emergency Helpline & Disputes

If vendor staff behaves rudely or demands extra money during loading or unloading, contact the nearest police station or consumer helpline immediately. Puniyo is a digital directory platform and does not participate in vendor-customer transactions.
